Support Convening and Coordination

Summary

This mini-guide, published by Regen Labs explores one strand of the WEAVE Framework: supporting convening and coordination. It draws on an action learning project with place-based convenors, or weavers, from six regions across Australia, who help communities align effort and coordinate change toward regenerative local economies.

The guide argues that convening is a critical but overlooked form of social infrastructure. Weavers build trust across sectors, connect enterprises, funders and communities, and help places sustain collective action over time, yet their work is often unfunded and poorly understood. It recommends:

  • building a national learning network for convenors
  • recognising convening as core economic development infrastructure
  • funding dedicated convenor roles, and
  • supporting convenors' own development and wellbeing

It's useful for funders, policymakers and place-based practitioners looking to better resource and structure community-led economic transitions.
