Learning communities connect people to learn from practice and share experiences. Diverse sector actors lead these groups, fostering connection, peer learning, and collaboration. They also share insights and resources back to the sector, contributing to a growing digital commons.
About learning communities
The Social Enterprise Development Initiative (SEDI) supports four types of online learning communities for social enterprise actors across different roles, sizes, and stages.
Through Understorey, we support these learning communities to:
- Align with social enterprise sector values
- Enable deeper exploration of experience and the development of leading practices
- Provide space for shared learning, support and collaboration to spark change
- Engage with equity justice challenges in the sector

Open learning
These are spaces where key learnings are shared through webinars. They are open to all, and guided by themes and topics identified by the sector.

First Nations learning communities
First Nations peer learning communities supported by the Social Enterprise Development Initiative (SEDI) invite First Nations change-makers to come together around areas of social enterprise interest and impact they prioritise. Peer participants support one another by building relationships, nurturing ideas, and sharing learning.
