WEAVE: Regen Economy Systems Lab

By Regen Labs

This page, published by Regen Labs introduces the WEAVE Framework, a model for building inclusive, regenerative regional economies. It argues regional social enterprises are well placed to lead this shift, but need better funding, models and support systems to do so.

Summary

This page, published by Regen Labs introduces the WEAVE Regen Economy Systems Lab and its key output, the WEAVE Framework. Drawing on more than five years of practice and a recent 12-month program of experiments across several Australian regions, it sets out the conditions communities and social enterprises need to build inclusive, regenerative local economies.

The framework is built around place as an orienting layer, three core conditions (connected communities, regenerative development and transformative structures), and ten related strands of activity. The page also introduces weavers, the local convenors who coordinate this kind of change, and argues their work is essential, but often invisible and underfunded. It explores this through three inquiry areas: business model innovation, finance innovation and social infrastructure.

It's useful for social enterprises, funders, policymakers and place-based practitioners interested in practical models and partnerships for regenerative, community-led economic development.
