Who we are
Enterprise Learning Projects (ELP) is an Aboriginal controlled not-for-profit organisation. We want remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander entrepreneurs to be empowered to determine their own futures and effect generational change for the communities. To achieve this vision, we offer tailored on-Country business support to remote entrepreneurs through our incubation and mentoring programs. And we meaningfully collaborate with our sector peers and partners.
ELP supports the growth of remote Indigenous entrepreneurs and their businesses through a tailored experience of place-based and contextually relevant support. We offer in person, on-Country support and provide connection to a rich network of expertise.
We put relationships first, we take the time to build trust and a strong understanding of the entrepreneur and their community. We start by shifting power, and ensuring that entrepreneurs are in charge of their learning and business goals from the start. We then provide a tailored plan for development in the program, highlighting business skills, personal skills, network opportunities and other fundamental steps to take in order to progress towards those goals. We ensure programs are developed and delivered by Aboriginal people, ensuring that we operate with cultural integrity, and that entrepreneurs receive relevant and appropriate support.
We partner with Aboriginal businesses, Government, local community We partner with Aboriginal businesses, Government, local community organisations and larger national organisations to provide support.
Our team is led by our Executive Director, Yolngu business leader Liandra Gaykamaŋu and our CEO, award-winning social entrepreneur Alexie Seller.
What we do
We support remote entrepreneurs through our incubation and mentoring programs.
Applications for both programs are permanently open and include at least six months of tailored business support.
Our best practice programs operate across these three stages:
- Impact North workshops & events inspire entrepreneurs with ideas and capacity to develop a business venture. As a network, we exist to connect passionate for-purpose leaders across the region and run workshops, events, opportunities for knowledge sharing. Many Indigenous businesses are inherently social and community-driven. We acknowledge the intersection of Indigenous business and social enterprise and we connect Aboriginal entrepreneurs with opportunities across the social enterprise sector.
- Incubation Program supports businesses that are growing, by equipping entrepreneurs with the tools, resources and opportunities that they need to grow their businesses and create lasting local economic opportunities.
The Incubation Program is intensive, tailored, place-based and contextually relevant. Once we have built trust, and a deep understanding of the needs of the entrepreneurs, we engage external subject matter experts to provide specialised skills and training to support the entrepreneur to grow their business.
The most significant reported impact from our programs was entrepreneurs gaining access to new and expanded networks and a 100% reported increase in skills and confidence.
- The Alumni Empowerment program supports entrepreneurs by empowering them as leaders to inspire the next generation. We provide Alumni opportunities to share their knowledge with early-stage entrepreneurs in our network, refer them to external opportunities and contract them to deliver workshops and training. The Alumni continue to grow their businesses through accessing ad-hoc support & mentoring from ELP.

Navigating Growth: ELP's Journey of Self-Discovery
ArticlesThis article reflects on the team's journey at the end of 2023 to define their organisational identity and values, including "Better Together" and "Generational View." Inspired by Indigenous perspectives, they adopted a long-term outlook, considering 500-year legacies rather than short-term plans. This process helped formalise team dynamics, balancing collective support with individual boundaries. By establishing a clear, shared approach, they aim to foster a collaborative work environment and create a meaningful, lasting impact in their communities.
