AIGI, a registered charity and internationally recognised centre for governance expertise, created the Indigenous Governance Toolkit to help Indigenous organisations, communities, nations, and individuals build, strengthen, and evaluate their governance. This toolkit is divided into key sections, each focusing on a core governance area, including:
- Culture and Values – Highlighting the importance of Indigenous culture in governance.
- Leadership – Developing strong leadership strategies.
- Decision-Making Processes – Building effective systems for decision-making.
- Rules and Membership – Setting clear guidelines for organisational structure.
The toolkit offers practical resources, such as:
- Examples of successful governance from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups.
- Self-assessment tools for evaluating governance practices.
