The Beautiful Bunch

Who we are

The Beautiful Bunch is a registered charity and social enterprise based in Melbourne, launched in late 2020 during one of Melbourne's longest COVID-19 lockdown periods. We are the only Victorian not-for-profit working specifically with young women from refugee backgrounds who are experiencing barriers to employment. We were built on the recognition that being young, female, and from a refugee background places a person among those facing the greatest challenges to finding work in Australia, with this group significantly over-represented among the unemployed and underemployed compared with their male counterparts.

Our purpose is to help these women build the confidence, practical skills, and social networks they need to find meaningful employment. We do this through a gender-informed work and training environment where participants feel safe, supported, and welcomed. All profits are reinvested directly back into the business and our programs.

What we do

Floral products and delivery

We source seasonal flowers from market each day, create one style of bouquet, and offer same-day delivery across Melbourne. Bouquets are made by graduates of our training program. We also sell gifts, digital gift cards, and flower subscriptions for homes and businesses. Every purchase directly funds our training and employment work.

Floristry training program

Our training program runs for approximately six months and is delivered in partnership with experienced Melbourne florists and a team of mentors. Trainees develop foundational floristry skills alongside computer literacy, business administration, photography, and social media skills. The program also focuses on building creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and resilience, which we see as transferable skills essential for future workplaces. Trainees are paid employees of the business during the program.

Workshops and events

We run public floristry workshops and events, open to anyone wanting to learn floral arrangement in a social setting. These also generate revenue that supports our core mission.

Brand partnerships

We work with businesses seeking to incorporate social impact into their gifting, events, and corporate flower needs.
