Security Sisters United

Who we are

Security Sisters United is a women-owned and purpose-driven security company and certified social enterprise. It was established to address the significant under-representation of women in the security and construction industries by creating a business model where strong commercial performance and meaningful social impact reinforce each other. Its purpose is to secure sites, create opportunities, support women, and build a business that makes a measurable difference.

The organisation is led by Directors Sonya Karras, Sacha Kaluri, and Samuel Giacomin, who together bring experience across business, frontline security, social work, education, community engagement, and social enterprise. Sonya and Sacha bring more than 25 years of combined business and community experience, while Samuel contributes extensive knowledge across the social sector and security industry. Operational capability is further strengthened through a partnership with SOS Security, which provides established security systems and the capacity to support professional delivery at scale.

Security Sisters United's core values are professionalism, integrity, inclusion, opportunity, safety, and genuine social impact. The organisation believes social procurement (the practice of using purchasing decisions to generate positive social outcomes alongside commercial value) should be more than a compliance exercise. Its goal is to find capable women, give them a real opportunity, support them to succeed, and build a commercially strong business that clients can rely on.

What we do

Security Sisters United provides professional security services primarily across construction, infrastructure, and commercial environments. Its operational partnership with SOS Security means it can deliver services reliably and at scale.

Security services include:

  • on-site and static guarding
  • gatehouse and access control
  • visitor and contractor management
  • asset protection
  • concierge and public-interface security
  • security planning and workforce development support

Alongside its commercial security work, Security Sisters United actively recruits women into the industry, drawing on its networks across education, community, and employment. Recruits receive training, mentoring, confidence-building support, and ongoing workforce assistance to help them build genuine careers rather than short-term placements.

The organisation's broader social impact includes increased female participation in male-dominated industries, local employment, workforce diversity, and long-term economic independence for women. Its model also enables clients to meet social procurement and Building Equality Policy objectives (Victorian Government requirements for major construction projects to deliver employment and economic benefits for under-represented groups) without compromising on the quality, safety, or reliability of their security services.
