Who we are
Holy Grounds began as a heartfelt vision, brought to life through a generous bequest and a strong partnership between Anglicare WA, St George’s Cathedral, and the Anglican Diocese of Perth. Together, we set out to activate Cathedral Square - creating a vibrant community space where connection and belonging flourish.
Our mission is to tackle loneliness and social isolation by fostering a welcoming environment where people from all walks of life can come together. At Holy Grounds, this happens through shared experiences, inclusive activities, and a warm cafe atmosphere.
Our team is a mix of passionate staff and committed volunteers, working together to create opportunities for people to build skills, confidence, and meaningful connections. This collaboration is central to the spirit of Holy Grounds and the supportive community we nurture.
Every cup of coffee served and every activity hosted at Holy Grounds contributes to making Cathedral Square a warmer, safer, and more inclusive space - a welcoming hub for connection in the heart of Boorloo / Perth.

What we do
Holy Grounds blends café culture with social impact, creating a safe and welcoming hub in Cathedral Square. We focus on reducing isolation, building skills, and fostering community through:
- Social connection: Inclusive events like Chatty Café tables, board-game lunches, and Makers’ Meet-ups.
- Volunteer opportunities: Training and mentoring in hospitality and barista skills.
- Creative community: Hosting art, craft, and cultural gatherings that celebrate creativity and inclusion.
- Supportive environment: A warm space where everyone is welcome, valued, and encouraged to connect.
