Who we are
Chocolate On Purpose® is Australia's first Aboriginal chocolate business - a female-led, regionally-based certified social enterprise empowering Indigenous growers and preserving cultural knowledge through premium chocolate experiences. We craft mindful indulgences using native botanicals sourced from Aboriginal communities where possible, creating pathways for economic self-determination while honouring Country.
Our mission: To reclaim Culture, activate ancient wisdom, and empower Community through chocolate experiences that honour our 60,000+ year connection to Country.
Our core values:
- People: Empowering Aboriginal women as matriarchal knowledge holders and supporting Indigenous growers in supply chains worth $300M+ annually.
- Planet: Environmental stewardship through ethical sourcing, Fair Trade certification, and carbon offset partnerships.
- Equity: Driving representation, supply chain fairness, and modern slavery eradication.
Our key team:
- Fiona Harrison (Founder/CEO): Proud Wiradyuri woman, Graduate Certificate in Wiradyuri Language Culture & Heritage, aromatherapy practitioner, and award-winning social entrepreneur (Alibi Awards First Nations Business Woman 2024, CSU Alumni Excellence Award 2025).
- Jo Angri (Logistics Manager): Permanent team member managing distribution and operations.
- Cultural Advisory Circle: Including Aunty Robin Young, Professor Sue Green, and other respected Elders guiding our Cultural protocols.
What we do
Core products and services:
- Premium chocolate range: 7 x 100g "Mindful Indulgence" bags featuring native botanicals (Davidson Plum, Riberry, Finger Lime, Strawberry Gum, Aniseed Myrtle, Macadamia).
- Corporate gifting: Customisable chocolate solutions for ESG-focused organisations.
- Team well-being Indigenous chocolate tasting guided visualisation and team building chocolate pizza decorating workshops experiences.
- Seasonal collections: NAIDOC week themed chocolate, reconciliation week specials, valentine's day unique offerings.
Impact Areas:
- Supply chain equity: Less than 2% of the $300M native botanical industry is Indigenous-owned despite being built on our Intellectual & Cultural IP - of this even fewer are women who are traditionally the matriarchal holders of these plant knowledge systems crucial to Identity, Spirituality and Culture - we're changing this.
- Employment creation: Developing pathways for Aboriginal women 45+ through our ‘Ngunggilanha’ Cultural Chocolate Nexus project.
- Cultural preservation: Every product tells a story, transferring traditional plant knowledge to new generations.
- Economic self-determination: reinvesting 50%+ of profits into Indigenous and cacao farming communities globally.
Key Outcomes:
- Supply Nation and Social Traders certified.
- $208,524 in non-repayable grants secured for expansion.
- Projected SROI of $586,132 through community impact initiatives.
- Serving ASX200 companies, universities, and government departments nationally.
