Eden Game Development Centre

Who we are

Eden Game Development Centre (EGDC) has been teaching video game development with years of experience in game development skills to empower youth. We support disengaged and disadvantaged and rural youth to help them learn valuable employable skills that can lead to careers and lifelong skills. But also giving youth a sense of accomplishment and a fun social environment to foster social skills such as teamwork, communication and build friendships.

Our approach

We believe the best learning happens when the teacher is in the same boat as the student exploring, experimenting and having fun together. Our workshops are casual, stress free, and focused on creativity, not perfection.
Using project-based methodologies having an aim with a time frame pseudo simulating work environments.

Our mission

We’re here to show people just how easy it is to get started in game development and how many exciting pathways it can open, from coding and art to design and storytelling.

Our vision

We want to see game development taught and explored all across Australia in classrooms, communities and especially in rural areas where creative tech opportunities can make a real difference.

What we do

Since 2016, Eden Game Development Centre has delivered hands-on workshops to 1000’s of young people across Australia. We’ve worked with people and students from Rural and all sorts of backgrounds like those facing mental health challenges or educational disengagement creating inclusive, welcoming spaces where creativity and confidence can thrive.

Our programs meet learners where they are, showing that game development is not only accessible but also a powerful way to build real-world skills. Participants have gone on to further education or jobs in tech, design and creative industries.

We’re passionate about bringing these opportunities to classrooms, communities and rural areas helping young people unlock their potential and imagine new futures through games.

    Videos

Frustrated with the lack of job opportunities in his rural hometown, William channeled his passion for gaming into learning to code on YouTube. Determined to pass these skills on and to create a career path for youth in the area, he launched the Eden Game Development Centre.
