Who we are
DSS works in partnership with government and non-government organisations and communities to ensure the effective development, management and delivery of payments, evidence-based policies, programs and services to support individuals and families.
What we do
The social enterprise sector plays a role in supporting the economic and social wellbeing of individuals, families and vulnerable members of Australian communities. The department is working with the sector to deliver the government’s Social Enterprise Development Initiative (SEDI). SEDI supports social enterprises, and the sector as a whole, to be more efficient and effective and deliver social benefits to vulnerable Australians.
The SEDI program builds on a previous program, the Sector Readiness Fund, that provided grants to assist established social enterprises to increase their social impact.
Our work
The Social Enterprise Development Initiative (SEDI)
GuidesSEDI supports social enterprises by providing funding for capability building grants for individual social enterprises, and funding wider supports for the social enterprise sector, such as the development of Understorey, facilitated learning communities and the creation of capability building tools all the sector can use.
