Who we are
Community Flower Studio (CFS) is a not-for-profit social enterprise that sells floral arrangements, indoor plants, and art to support youth mentoring programs. All proceeds help young people build resilience, gain life skills, and find meaningful employment, particularly those facing mental health challenges. Through creative workshops and hands-on support, CFS fosters growth and opportunity, empowering youth to thrive in tough circumstances, much like succulents in dry climates.
Our team includes:
- Dr Bibiana Chan (President): Bibi wears several hats – mental health researcher, laughter yoga trainer, bushwalk leader, mixed-media artist, florist and street photographer. She is passionate in applying her various skill sets in running the Community Flower Studio. She is a person in recovery with lived experience in clinical depression.
- Ms Rabia Khan (Vice President): Rabia is an epidemiologist and the founder of a social enterprise ‘Data Action Impact’. She is a data whisperer and helps CFS collate data on our social impact.
- Mr Geoff Turner (Secretary): Geoff is an Electrical Engineer who is also interested in creative arts. He is passionate about climate action.
- Ms Nikki Nyam (Treasurer): Nikki is a successful entrepreneur. She is keen to take CFS’s social enterprise arm to the next level of business.
- Mrs Helen Benu (Committee member): Helen is responsible for driving StreetWork to the next level, building on the solid foundation established under prior leaders. Over the past 35 years she has held senior management and leadership roles across the not-for-profit sector with a focus on youth development and volunteer management. Helen was instrumental in professionalising StreetWork’s operations and is now leading our expansion to new communities in Sydney’s north. Helen is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD).
- Mr Kim Wilkins (Committee member): Kim is a retired lawyer and a long-standing member of the Northbridge Rotary Club. He is also the CFS Legal Consultant advising the committee on legal matters!
What we do
We host monthly pop-up stalls with mental health themes outside 525 Willoughby Rd, Willoughby, on the second Saturday of each month.
Our events include the Bushwalk of the Month and Laughter Yoga Program, offering a chance to connect with nature and improve well-being.
We also run creative workshops, such as resin art, floral crowns, and succulent terrariums, led by passionate florist Dr Bibiana Chan. These activities provide a blend of nature therapy and hands-on creativity, helping participants relax and craft meaningful, handmade gifts.
