Aboriginal Terms of Reference
Aboriginal Terms of Reference (ATR) are based on the great knowledge that Aboriginal people have accumulated over the many thousands of years they have lived in this great Island Land. These Terms/qualities underpin the Aboriginal social praxis and ontological and epistemological basis of existence. Following is a list of some of the outstanding features of Aboriginal Terms of Reference: - Aboriginal Law - Spiritual Integrity - Primacy of Place - Land as a moral entity - Lateral governance (non-hierarchical) - Positive group dynamics - Non-competitiveness - Age and gender recognition and respect - Maintenance of harmonious relations. Of course there many others to be included in this list, such as the Aboriginal system of Logic, and notions of time and space (different to Western systems).
