STREAT: WISE models of supported training and employment pathways

This was a learning community for practitioners working in social enterprises that help others into training and jobs. This group had a chance to share ideas, learn from each other, and feel supported in their work. Some were new to the space, others had been doing it for years, they were all part of a community that helps each other grow, stay motivated, and create real impact - all while having a bit of fun along the way.

About the learning community

Welcome to STREAT's Community of Practice (CoP), designed for practitioners in Work Integration Social Enterprises (WISEs) who run training and employment programs for people facing barriers to work. This CoP offered peer learning and skill development while providing essential doses of connection, motivation, and hope.

The structured co-created sessions ensured a dynamic exchange where expertise was shared and support requests were warmly received, including an all-popular round of ‘give-and-get’. This approach promoted diverse perspectives, strengthening leadership and decision-making within the community. Having a dedicated space to connect, collaborate, tackle challenges, and celebrate wins-big and small-helps remind us why this work matters.

STREAT built a supportive, knowledgeable network committed to creating lasting impact. The goal was for individuals to learn something, share their wisdom and experience, feel less lonely, and enjoy a bit of fun along the way.

STREAT is a leading social enterprise with over a decade of experience supporting young people in Melbourne. How did this learning community work?

The learning community consisted of 7 x 90-minute online Communities of Practice (CoPs) held between May 2025 and April 2026.

These sessions were open to all; newcomers to the WISE space or seasoned professionals with deep wisdom to share. They were an opportunity to learn, share experiences, and connect with others. Each session aimed to foster collaboration and created a space for knowledge exchange, so everyone felt supported and engaged.
