Green Collect: Circular economy

This learning community was for social enterprises working in the circular economy. It was a space to connect, learn and lead a fair and inclusive transition. It explored shared challenges, grew our collective understanding, and strengthened the sector’s voice in shaping circular solutions.

About the learning community

Many of us have championed the for a long time, and now it’s becoming more prominent in Australia and internationally. This is an important time for social enterprises to collaborate, learn and not only be a part of the change, but help to make it a fair and equitable transition.

The agenda for the learning community was formed by all members, with some initial ideas including:

  • Sharing challenges, needs and opportunities for social enterprises in the circular economy sector.
  • Growing our understanding of the Australian and global transition towards a circular economy, and what this means for us.
  • Exploring how we can collaborate, advocate, and engage with government, business, and industry more widely so that social enterprises have a strong voice and a higher profile in the broader circular economy conversation.
  • Identifying the circular economy ‘heroes’ we’d like to hear from, and who we should invite to meet and share with us (e.g. from industry, research, or other sectors).
  • Learning from each other about how circular our own operations are, and how we can support the broader social enterprise sector to embed circular principles into their work.
