BlackCard: Understanding and respecting cultural protocols
BlackCard will bring together First Nations leaders, Elders, and guides from across the Continent to share challenges and insights on strengthening relationships between First Nations peoples/communities and the Australian social enterprise sector.
About the learning community
Convened by BlackCard, this learning community will create space for First Nations leaders with deep experience establishing businesses that put people, place and planet first. It will explore experiences of First Nations communities engaging with the social enterprise sector in Australia. Participants will co-create resources to help build the sector’s capability to value and engage respectfully with First Nations peoples and organisations.
About the convenor
BlackCard operates with the authority of Elders who have provided expertise for over 30 years to enterprises, governments, corporate and industry sectors. BlackCard’s Aboriginal knowledge strengthens ethical behaviour by enabling people to develop an understanding to undertake the same obligations and responsibilities to Land and to each other as Aboriginal people have practised for thousands of years.
How will this learning community work?
This learning community will:
- Engage a group of First Nations social enterprise leaders in June 2025.
- Convene a series of online meetings between June 2025 – December 2025.
- Develop guidance resources and case study for publishing on Understorey by May 2026.
How to get involved
BlackCard will convene a SEDI open learning session in 2026 to share insights and resources from this learning community.
